Star Spangled Fun 2017

We love the 4th of July in our house, so I can’t let the holiday sneak away without sharing our long weekend fun!

We started the weekend off with Liam’s belt promotion ceremony with Victory Martial Arts.

He moved up in belt rank to Cheeri recommended from Baeoh in the Tiger program. We continue to be so proud of him for his accomplishments, hard work & dedication. Huge thanks to Mr. Johnson and Mr. Valle, as well! Mr. Valle is off to college now, so we will miss seeing him each week, but we’ll definitely be keeping in touch!

Saturday evening, we intended to go mini golfing but the rain thwarted those plans. Instead, we headed to the bowling alley.

The boys were very competitive with one another. My score was awful….hahaha! A good time was had by all, though!

My little artist creating a work of art with his gnome for the front walkway.

We couldn’t let the holiday go by without a celebratory photo. Trying to get both of these boys to BOTH look at the camera was work, peeps!  As you can kinda tell, Timber was not amused with my antics. This shot was Liam’s favorite, so it wins for getting posted 🙂

Monday, it was a just me & little man hanging out while Daddy was visiting his Grandma. So, we had a movie date. Despicable Me 3 was super cute!!

On the 4th, we all got up bright & early and headed out to Cocoa Beach. The weather was gorgeous but it was a scorcher out there.

The sand by our chairs was too hot to play in, so we were building castles by the sea shore ❤

Finished masterpiece by Liam & Daddy….

We decided to forgo our usual trip downtown to see the fireworks this year, and instead, we did some at home. It’s always a little more challenging when holidays fall during the week, so we decided to be creative this year. It worked out well since we’ve actually been seeing quite a bit of fireworks lately on our trips to Disney. So none of us felt like we were missing out {I looove my fireworks!}

It was a great weekend celebrating our nation’s birthday! ❤

Until next time, friends!

Our {Long} Weekend Recap

Hope you all enjoyed your Memorial Day Weekend 2014! It was for sure a H.O.T. one in our neck of the woods. My, oh my, were we feeling the summertime temps, or what, already?!?!

When Liam gets a little older, we will explain to him the real reason for the holiday this weekend. Until, then, it was just an extra long & fun weekend for him. Overall, though, we kept it pretty low-key. He & I battled a stomach bug most of the week, so we spent the 1st part of the weekend playing catch up with chores & what-not. Daddy was a trooper with helping to take care of both of us & the house!

Once everyone’s bellies were feeling better, we indulged in some yummy ice cream cones after dinner. 🙂

Daddy says this was Liam’s FIRST ice cream CONE …I haven’t been able to locate any other pics of him eating a cone, so he may be right because ya know I would have documented that! LOL …He wouldn’t stop moving while eating this one, so it’s not the best shot, but here ya go:

On Sunday, we decided to head out to Cocoa Beach for a day of fun in the sun. Two things I learned after our trip. One, Liam needs a bigger sun hat (last years is too small….yet still so cute). Two, if we’re going to frequent the beach this summer, we need an umbrella. The Florida sun is brutal.

Liam loved the playing in both the sand and the water. While he would be in the water with us, he would sing, “we’ll be swimming in the ocean all day long…splish, splash”.

The other highlight of our weekend was that Mr. Liam taught himself how to do a somersault. Well, I guess, I should 1st clarify to say that I believe one of his little friends at school helped show him how, as I observed this from my glimpses on the camera. It was actually pretty hilarious and I wish I had been able to catch that on video. He must have felt confident in his new skill to show it to us because this is what he did on Saturday.

To end our weekend, last night, after bath, he proceeded to tell us that he loved us & that we were “the best day ever” ….I don’t think it gets much better than that, folks!

Until next time!

Happy 2nd Birthday Liam [Part 2] — The Fun Continued

While we did not have one big party for our little man this year, we did have a fun-filled week last week!

I wanted to share some of our festivities with you….

The celebrations began the day before Liam’s birthday with an impromptu snack time party at school. I left work early that day & brought mini cupcakes & balloons in. It was really sweet of the daycare to let us do that…I think all the kiddos enjoyed the treat! Since Liam was set to fully transition to his new room the next week, we celebrated in his old room & this was also kind of a good-bye to his teacher & friends who are not moving over yet. It just happened that no other boys were there that day, so he was QUITE the ladies man at the table…LOL

No 2 year old’s birthday is complete without cake, so of course, we still had that at the close of the weekend. I made vanilla cupcakes with a mickey theme in honor of our trip & Liam’s fav friends. Plus, believe it or not….we often lean toward the NOT…Liam despises ANYthing with chocolate in it. He doesn’t like candy & it’s touch & go with sprinkles…didn’t give me much to work with for the cupcakes but they still came out pretty cute 🙂

So, last year I picked the baby mickey theme for his 1st birthday party because it was super cute. Who would have thought that this year, we would be doing another mickey?? 🙂

The above two pics are the before & after of the candle blowing out…it was QUICK! He needed NO coaching! I got to admit, I did not see that coming. Apparently, since we have been showing him how to blow on his hot food to cool it down for months now, he automatically knew what to do when Daddy told him to blow out the candle. It was hysterical!! Then, he wanted to do it again!! So, I filmed it….

Every kid likes to open presents, right?!?! I couldn’t help but keep comparing last year’s 1st birthday to this one…as far as what Liam could do. For instance, he was not really interested in opening presents last year. Honestly, he just didn’t get it. Even at Christmas it was a stretch. Well, that’s all changed now. We got him a few small things and he tore them open! I almost can’t wait now for Santa this year…Ha!!

One of the fun things we did after we recovered from our trip to Disney was go to Cocoa Beach. By chance, we found a great little spot that was phenomenal…definitely someplace we’ll make “our spot” from now on. We loaded Liam up in the wagon & wheeled him right on the beach 🙂

Aww, so sweet! Daddy & Liam are waving ….wrong! Daddy’s holding up the car keys because he forgot to take them out of his pocket….OOPS! Liam loved the ocean water & all three of us got pummeled by waves a few times but it didn’t keep us down!

Serious sandcastle building ….he did not want help.

On Sunday, we finally made a trip down to Lake Eola to feed the ducks & swans. Been meaning to do this for awhile. It’s nice to do on Sunday’s because they also have the Farmer’s Market going on. When I drive Liam to school each morning, we drive by the ponds in our development & we always yell out good morning to the duckies so this was special for him to get to feed them.

The swans were a tad aggressive & nearly taller than Liam :/ …we brought 2 bags of lettuce but that almost didn’t seem like enough. geez!

Stephen’s friend from Vero & his wife were in town on Sunday, so we went back out on Sunday after Liam’s nap to meet up with them. This met a trip to Downtown Disney. This ended up also being quite a fitting way to close out his birthday celebratory weekend…we started out with some mickey & closed it out with some mickey! He had some fun posing with a few friends….

Stephen & I had a fantastic week celebrating Liam’s 2nd birthday!! He has grown & changed SO MUCH in this last year, it’s really incredible. I need to maybe do a post about that sometime soon. Until next time….
